Scaling in 2026 looks different than it did a couple of years ago. Meta now pushes AI driven campaigns hard, and the advertisers who win are the ones who let the system do what it is good at while keeping a tight hand on budget and signal quality.
Start with the right campaign type
Meta recommends starting with Advantage+ campaigns, which use AI to automate audience and creative selection. Advantage+ kicks in when you combine broad targeting, optimised placements, a campaign level budget and a clear conversion event. For many advertisers this now beats heavily manual setups.
ABO for testing, CBO for scaling
Use ABO, ad set budgets, when you are testing and want precise control over what each audience and creative gets. Once you find winners, move budget into CBO, campaign budgets, and let Meta distribute spend to the best performers automatically.
- Phase 1, testing: small ad set budgets across 3 to 5 ad sets.
- Phase 2, validation: a moderate campaign budget on the proven winners.
- Phase 3, scaling: push the campaign budget up gradually as performance holds.
Scale gradually, not in jumps
The fastest way to kill a working campaign is to double the budget overnight. Increase in steps, give the system time between changes, and avoid editing winning ad sets too often. Every big edit resets the learning the algorithm has built.
Watch the metrics that matter
Track campaign level cost per result, return on ad spend and frequency. If frequency climbs too fast or return drops, pause and regroup before pushing further. Scaling is about compounding what works, not forcing what does not.
None of this matters if your account goes down mid scale. The operators who scale smoothly run on stable, aged infrastructure with replacements ready, so a single ban never resets all that hard won momentum.
